Songs of Travel

Music by Vaughan Williams, Lauro, Sainz de la Maza, and Ponce. Featuring Mark Winston, Baritone; Craig Winston, Guitar; and Alaina de Bellevue, Piano. Join us for a program of music for solo guitar, and songs for baritone voice.  The enchanting sounds of guitar masters Lauro and Sainz de la Maza paint pictures of journeys through Andalucia and Latin America.  Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beloved setting of poems by Robert Louis Stevenson entitled Songs of Travel explores Romantic and Transcendentalist themes through songs celebrating the wilderness, music, love, friendship, and the passing of time.  The program will also include songs by Mexican composer Manuel Ponce in a new arrangement for guitar and voice by Marc Bataini featuring Ponce’s most famous work Estrellita.
